Since I was young, I always enjoy reading cartoon books which are Japan's cartoons (manga). There was this one story that can translate jokes seamlessly and it clearly that the translation works really well! It is noticeable that it was not a joke from Japan so that means the translator must have added these jokes to fulfill the purpose which is to make things fun! Back then I think because the authority of the license is not heavily impacted like the present date, the content of the manga can be changed up to the translator's judgment. Therefore, I have always been curious since then about how can jokes be translated well.

The manga "Sket Dance"

Research questions
Would the relevant theories (Baker, 1992) (Vinay, Darbelnet, 1958) to use to classify the appropriate coping procedures in joke translation?
What are the most and the least often used techniques in joke translation?
Would the ‘General theory of verbal humor’ be suitable with the jokes from the television series “The Office”?
To find answers for the research questions and to reach the objectives, the American television series “The Office” was chosen for the analysis. This show was selected because there are many jokes that are hardly understood by foreigners. Moreover, the television series is well known to everyone at the worldwide level which increases the authenticity of the empirical translation quality from Amazon prime service.
